Equity in education is the core concept and principle of all individuals achieving their educational potential. It also means that individual aspects, such as gender, ethnic origin or family background, should not be obstacles to acquiring at least a basic minimum level of skills. To ensure access and address all forms of discrimination which inhibits the fulfillment of the right to education, ‘equity’ is one of the fundamental values of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
