The Equitable Education Hub is a UNESCO Bangkok initiative, in collaboration with the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) Thailand, with the aim of supporting inclusive and quality education for all people in the Southeast Asia region.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded on 16 November 1945 as the United Nation’s specialized agency. Its mission is to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information. Education transforms lives UNESCO provides global and regional leadership in education, strengthens education systems worldwide and responds to contemporary global challenges through education with gender equality as an underlying principle. Its work encompasses quality educational development from pre-school to higher education and beyond. UNESCO is the lead coordinating agency for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), also known as Education 2030 Agenda. It seeks to ensure all person can exercise their rights to education, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, nationality, religious belief, or economic status. UNESCO Bangkok is working towards the quality and equity of education in the Asia and the Pacific.

The Equitable Education Fund (EEF), Thailand was established under the Equitable Education Act 2018. The objective of the Act is to provide financial support for children and youth who are in the greatest need, reduce educational inequality by forming partnerships with different groups and conducting systematic research to support and develop teachers’ effectiveness.

EEF is under the supervision of the Prime Minister and is governed by a Board of Governance which is appointed by the cabinet and has a multi-sectoral structure. The board members include five ministries (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Public Health) and six independent experts from various disciplines, including academic, private sector, and civil society.
