The Covid-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented disruption in all segments of the populace. In Thailand, one of the most vulnerable groups under the economic impact of this viral outbreak is the rural elderly citizens. Their main source of income from family members migrating to work in the city has been wiped out due to the closure or suspension of businesses.
Located in one of such rural areas and understanding the hardships faced by the local community, students and teachers at the Mechai Bamboo School have been in our humble effort to alleviate their vulnerability. With the principle “A school is more than a school”, the Bamboo School aims to become a Lifelong learning center and a platform to improve the quality of life, food security and income for elderly villagers living in the vicinity of the school…………………………………………………………………………
