A summer reading book drive is on in the Syracuse area, with the goal of collecting 5,000 books aimed at newborn to 2nd graders. It’s part of a long-term effort to improve the quality of life here, with literacy seen as a key part of that initiative.
Believe in Syracuse is coordinating the book drive. Sally Sayles-Hannon tells us the books will be distributed at DestinyUSA on July 9th, which is National Summer Reading Day. Along with the books, the message is being sent out that children (of all ages) should be read to at least 15 minutes every day, to improve their creativity, comprehension and vocabulary…………….
