“The Non-Formal Primary Education (NFPE) programme will be extended this academic year to five camps in Mae Sot on the Thai-Myanmar border, according to the project’s manager.
NFPE is a free continuing education programme to provide an education for children who do not have access to schools.
The programme was initiated across the nation in the 2008-2009 academic year. In 2015-2016, the programme was set up in Mae Sot aimed at children aged 10 to 14 who did not have access to education. It sought to give them a second chance by helping them re-enrol in schools to finish their basic education.
“While collecting data at the schools for the coming year, we found a high number of children who are willing to learn, so we are expanding the programme to the five camps,” said U Tun Kyi, project manager for NFPE…”
