Teachers have a crucial role in readying learners for climate change, sustainable development and global citizenship.
UNESCO is conducting a global online survey of teachers in partnership with Education International to find out how they are integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED) into their teaching.
In order to empower learners, educators themselves need to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, values and behaviours required for transformative education at the core of these concepts. UNESCO studies have consistently shown teacher training needs to be strengthened to achieve their goals.
The survey of primary and secondary teachers will help to fill an important data gap by providing information from the perspective of one of the key actors in education systems worldwide – teachers themselves.
